Celestial Green Ventures successfully achieved validation of the Trocano Project in March 2013.  Ciaran Kelly from Celestial Green Ventures said:

“The whole team here at Celestial Green Ventures and also the team within the Trocano Project are delighted to have achieved such a milestone.  The benefits of implementing such an important REDD project are numerous; for the people that live there, for the biodiversity, flora and fauna, but most importantly the protection of the natural forests and their important role they play in the fight against climate change as a Natural Climate Solution.”

Celestial Green Ventures went on to successfully achieve full verification in September 2013.  Celestial Green Ventures, Ciaran Kelly, attended the on-site verification visit for the Trocano Project from 19th to 27th June 2013.  The on-site verification was carried out by Environmental Services Inc.

Environmental Services Inc. are a leading voluntary carbon auditors based in Florida, USA and accredited by the American National Standards Institute under ISO 14065:2007 for greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies including: ISO 14064-3:2006, ISO 14065:2007, and validation/verification of assertions related to GHG emission reductions and removals at the project level for Land Use and Forestry (Group 3). These accreditations underline their competence to meet the stringent requirements of the Natural Forest Standard, who demand independent, third-party validators and verifiers for assessing projects using the NFS Natural Forest Standard for the issuance of Natural Capital Credits.

These milestones signified the initial success of the Trocano Project. By achieving these verifications from such a highly regarded carbon audit organisation enabled the project to be awarded its first allotments of Natural Capital Credits – the carbon credits that are issued as a result of the successful and fully verified activities of the Trocano Araretama REDD+ Project.
