Protect Biodiversity; Flora, Fauna and Endangered Species

The Amazon is home to roughly half of the known species on Earth. Species of plants, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals are newly discovered in the Amazon rainforest every year while almost 25% of human medicines originate from the rainforest ecosystem.

Unfortunately, many species are at risk of extinction due to disappearing habitats and rising temperatures because of climate change. The protection of biodiversity is one of the main activities for a REDD project under the Natural Forest Standard rules and requirements.
